For poppy
week, our school has been selling poppies and poppy rulers etc. These donations
will be sent to a charity to help raise money towards soldiers that are still
fighting today. If you could please buy a poppy badge for any donation, you can
help these brave soldiers do their job.
On Sunday,
on the eleventh month, on the eleventh day and on the eleventh hour, across the
country, people will be holding a two minute silence to reflect upon the fact
that thousands of willing soldiers have sacrificed their lives to save ours. As
we don’t go to school on Sundays, we shall be holding a silence on Thursday,
when a special visitor is coming round to do it with us.
Around the school, classes will be making 100 poppies to
celebrate 100 years from World War 1. We will be placing them in “Wobbly Wood”
(where the big Horse Chestnut tree is) to help remind us what it is all about. Can you believe that WW1 ended almost 100 years
ago! Wow!
